Ali Fakharian, is an Iranian graphic designer, painter and visual artist currently lives and works in Austin, Texas. His fascination at an early age with the world of images and narrative illustrations of the children’s graphic novels ignited an insatiable passion for what was to become his career as an artist. He started his artistic journey as a graphic designer right after he received his B.F.A in graphic design from Art and Architecture Azad University of Tehran in 2004. He worked for many years in advertising industry and attained a valuable work experience in the management of the design process from conceptualization to delivery.

In 2013, Ali moved to United States in pursuit of his master’s degree in graphic design at Savannah College of Art & Design. During his graduate study, he was introduced to a higher level of design methodologies and critical art theories that transformed his design process and helped him to discover what category of design he truly interested in. After graduation, he has been working mostly on socio-political topics, from widespread digital surveillance and misuse of technology, to the destructive impacts of consumerism on the environment. He has been collaborating with local and international non-profit organizations and has been involving in many socio/political campaigns in order to raise social awareness about the emergencies we are facing all around the globe. He also has participated in several juried international competitions and group exhibitions and have received multiple international awards.

Over the last few years, Ali has been attempting to move beyond his specialty in graphic design by working across various disciplines and media and by exploring variety of art mediums. Through this exploration, he has been deeply engaged with oil painting. He has found it as his most favorable and sincere visual language through which, he would be able to enter into a dialogue with the viewers in a more profound and authentic way. Currently, Ali is developing his painting skills while simultaneously continuing his individual studies in philosophy of art and critical art theories.
